Adoption Process

Thank you for making the decision to adopt! We recognize that adopting an animal is a big step. Thus, we use a friendly, conversational approach to help ensure you find the right fit. Our Animal Placement Specialists are here to work with you one-on-one every step of the way. To get started, check out our adoptable animal listings.   Our online profiles are a great way to get to know the animals and find ones you might be interested in meeting.

Interested adopters can complete our Adoption Application online here. One of our Animal Placement Specialists will promptly review it and reach out to answer your questions and chat about the next steps for meeting the animals.

Our shelter is open for walk-ins from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM during the week. However, we are unable to facilitate walk-through visits with potential adopters. To streamline the process, we recommend browsing through our available pets by clicking here before visiting the shelter. Once you have identified a potential animal you are interested in, kindly inform us upon your arrival at the shelter. We will then bring the animal to the front area for you to meet. It's important to note that some animals may be in foster care and not physically present at the shelter without prior notice. To avoid disappointment, we strongly encourage all visitors to submit an adoption application ahead of time and schedule an appointment. This will allow us to prepare all necessary paperwork in advance and ensure that the animal is on-site if it is currently being fostered. Additionally, we are pleased to offer appointments outside of regular hours and on weekends to better accommodate your schedule.

Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00, and for cats is $60.00. Our veterinarians and trained medical staff provide appropriate care to all of our animals before adoption. Prior to adoption, all animals receive:

Every animal is an individual, and every adoption is unique. We work hard to find the best possible match. Our Animal Placement Specialists will introduce you to the animals you’re interested in and who might be a great fit based on the information you’ve provided. Our Specialist will also review an animal’s history, medical or behavioral notes, and placement needs with you to ensure it’s a fit. Our focus is on providing guidance and helpful information so you can make an informed decision. Once a good match is made, our Animal Placement Specialist will go over the adoption paperwork and tips for transitioning your new pet to the home.

In certain instances, we offer the option to “foster-to-adopt," a process that enables potential adopters to foster an animal for a period of time to see how they do in a home. We also offer foster-to-adopt options for animals who are too young to be altered and those who are undergoing active medical treatment. We believe animals are always better in a home environment versus the shelter and provide this option to help improve their quality of life.
